Biographical Notes

Dr Gloriana Bartoli is a Clinical Psychologist and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with over twenty years experience in working with adults and children. She completed her training in Italy and UK, including a University Degree in Psychology and a Post Graduate Degree in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy (PsyD) at the University of Padua (Italy) and a Master in Psychoanalytic Observational Studies (MA/PGDip) at the Tavistock & Portman NHS Trust and the University of East London (UK). Dr Bartoli has been in New Zealand for 2 ½ years where she established her private practice while working at the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service of the Auckland Health District Board (ADHB). Registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board and with the Psychotherapists Board of Aotearoa New Zealand, she recently joined the New Zealand Institute of Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy (NZIPP) and became member of the New Zealand Psychological Society (NZPsS) and of the Infant Mental Health Association Aotearoa New Zealand (IMHAANZ), affiliate of the World Association for Infant Mental Health (WAIMH).

Adam Becker is a Counselling Psychologist and is currently completing his training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy with the VAPP. He works in full-time private practice in East Melbourne. Adam’s doctoral dissertation in psychology explored gay men’s experiences of shame. Adam has a keen interest in social justice issues including the role of socio- and psycho-dynamic processes in the perpetuation of privilege and disempowerment.

Wayne Featherstone is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist in private practice in Melbourne. He teaches counselling skills and psychoanalytic theory in a number of tertiary settings and recently completed a Ph.D. on the aesthetic domain of psychoanalysis through the University of South Australia. His primary theoretical interests are with post Kleinian and post Bionian theory, and also with various Italian authors working with Field Theory, as well as the emerging field of Neuropsychoanalysis.
Wayne worked for 25 years in various adult psychiatric settings after originally training as a secondary teacher and then retraining as a social worker and completing the VAPP psychoanalytic psychotherapy with adults course in 1987. He is a past president of the VAPP and currently serves on the training committee.

Paul Foulkes is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and psychiatrist in private practice. He is a Past President of the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Association of Australasia and the Victorian Association of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and a past Chair of the VAPP Ethics Committee.

His areas of professional interest have in particular included Ethics as applied to the practice of Psychiatry and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. He has a continued interest in the area of Eating Disorders being a Founder of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders. He teaches and supervises in Psychotherapy training courses .

Nicci Rossel is an experienced psychotherapist and has worked in a variety of community based organisations for 20 years. Nicci has been in full time private practice since 2009, her working areas of specialty include psychoanalytic couples work, relationship conflicts, same sex attracted individuals& couples and family violence.

Nicci developed the first Men’s Behaviour Change Program for gay and bi-sexual men whilst at the VAC/GMHC and went on to create the Same Sex Domestic Violence Project which later became a joint project with the ALSO Foundation. Nicci is a member of the VAPP and is on the Membership committee and worked in the Glen Nevis Clinic. Nicci also provides individual and group supervision in both the public and private sectors.

Margaret Stoneham is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist practising in inner-city Melbourne. Coming from a background in medical social work, she has a particular interest in articulating the underlying foundations of complex matters. She works with individuals and couples of all ages, covering a wide range of issues. Margaret is member of the Victorian Association of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists. For some years she co-convened the yearly VAPP Individual Course in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and has convened Clinical Seminars for the trainees of the VAPP Training Program. As part of her practice she provides clinical supervision and a reading group.

Jo Violet initially trained and worked in London, UK, as a child and adolescent psychiatrist and concurrently as a child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapist, both at the Tavistock Clinic. Having travelled from the UK to New Zealand and subsequently Australia, she recently completed an adult Jungian analytic training which spanned that journey, with ANZSJA. Jo now works in private practice in Melbourne, seeing a combination of children and families, adolescents and adults. Her main areas of interest are in the interface of trauma and autistic/psychotic states of mind.
